Marc Ullrich began his
musical studies at l’Ecole Nationale de Musique de Mulhouse, continuing
at the Conservatoire National de Région de Versailles and
finally at the famous Conservatoire National Supérieur de
Musique de Paris under the tutelage of Maurice André. He also
studied baroque trumpet in the class of Edward Tarr at the Schola
Cantorum Basiliensis.
Marc Ullrich was principal trumpet of the Orchestre Symphonique de
Mulhouse from 1971 to 1977, before joining the Radio Symphony Orchestra
in Basel, also as principal trumpet. He is currently principal trumpet
of the Sinfonieorchester Basel.
Mr. Ullrich gives master classes and partakes in major music festivals
in Europe, South America and the Middle East.
Marc Ullrich has played under the direction of renowned conductors such
as Helmut Rilling and John Elliot Gardiner, and performs regularly with
the Bach-Kollegium of Stuttgart (Germany), the English Baroque Soloists
(London), the Zürcher Kammerorchester (Switzerland), and the
Edward Tarr Trumpet ensemble, SWR among others.
Marc Ullrich has recorded CD’s for labels such as Archiv, Erato, Arion,
and Naxos.
In addition to his regular appearances with his jazz ensembles, he is
an ancient musique and baroque trumpet specialist.
