The American-born
(Washington, D.C.) tubist George Monch first studied at the Cleveland
Institut of Music with Ronald Bishop, and later with Robert Tucci in
Munich (Germany). He was then named principal tuba of the Caracas
Symphony Orchestra (Venezuela) and Hong Kong Philharmonic (China).
George Monch has been principal tuba of the Sinfonieorchester Basel
since 1983. He is professor of tuba at the Musikhochschule in
Freiburg-am-Breisgau, and the Musikhochschule in Trossingen (Germany).
